Should I, shouldn't I
Browsing the UKOUG website I see that the deadline for paper abstracts for the November conference is 1st May. As I had thoughts of pitching up with a DW presentation of some sort I better get my thinking cap on. I have a few ideas which I might run past people here in the UK.
Although my employers want me to present at least twice this year this is not the driving factor for wanting to talk there. UKOUG is the sort of event that people enjoy being part of, and for me giving back to the others is a way to say ‘thanks’. Another good thing about the event is people like me are tolerated, after all ‘not a DBA’, ‘does not do OLTP’ and ‘works for a computer services company that does outsourcing’ reduces my popularity no end.
Oh, and congratulations to Nick Goodman on his new job. 2006 looks like quite a year for him.
