Oracle Open World Day 3 - Blogger Meetup
Tonight was the night that we organized our second annual Oracle Open World blogger meetup, this time at the Thirsty Bear bar next door to the Moscone. For a variety of reasons I've ended up in the Thirsty Bear every night since I've been here (and I'll be there tonight, for the Oracle Press event) but it's a big old place and we managed to find a few tables in a corner. Anyway, here's a few photos:

After a couple of hours about half of the attendees went on down to the Appreciation night at the Cow Palace, the rest of us went in search of a curry and ended up at a classy 24-hour self-service curry restaurant just around the corner from the Hilton. Here's Andrew Clarke picking the Vindaloo and Laurent drinking a bottle of wine out of a brown paper bag. Let no-one say we can't end the night in style.
Finally, a couple of Oracle press releases (how about that for an unexpected change of context). First off is the official announcement of Oracle BI Enterprise Edition 10.1.3.2 aka "Maui" ("scheduled for general availability in the next 12 months", so don't get too excited) and the new Web Center, extensively blogged about here, here and here, although at $50k per CPU on top of Application Server, it's going to face competition from cheaper Web 2.0 suites out there. Looks a lot more funky than Portal though.
Next up along with Debra Lilley I've got a meeting with Chris Leone, then it's a session on What's New with Oracle BI Suite EE 10.1.3.2, followed by "Next-Generation Oracle Database Performance and Scalability: A Sneak Preview" which sounds very interesting. After that, I've got a bit of a clash - there's an Oracle Server Technology Beta Program appreciation event, on at the same time as "The Making of the World's Fastest and Most Scalable Database: A Look Under the Hood of Oracle Database 10g", and with the Oracle Press appreciation event at the same time. So, the question is - Networking, or geeking out...?
