Packing for the UKOUG Conference, Confirmation of Blogger Do

This afternoon I've been packing up my stuff in preparation for the UKOUG Conference & Exhibition, which is running from Tuesday to Friday next week in Birmingham. This year, because of the extra numbers due to the Peoplesoft, JDE and Siebel acquisitions, the main event is running for an extra day, starting on the Tuesday and running through until Friday. Monday is a partner day organized by Oracle - which I've luckily managed to avoid - and so I'll be travelling up on the train tomorrow morning and arriving during the afternoon.

This year my presentation is on BI Suite Enterprise Edition and the new BI Server, and I've actually got a special guest presenter joining me, Mike Durran from Oracle, who'll be showing off the new Enterprise Edition-integration with Discoverer towards the end of the presentation. I'll start off by introducing Enterprise Edition and the BI Server, after which I'll demo the metadata layer and the Interactive Dashboard; Mike will then show Discoverer integration with the new BI Publisher and the Dashboard application. It's a shame we've only got 45 minutes but it should be an interesting talk for anyone looking to see where Oracle's BI products are going.

Apart from my own presentation, I'm chairing Paul Rodwick's and Jag Vasudevan's BI keynotes, Peter Scott's talk on Analytic Functions and Lisa's talk on Data Warehousing for Oracle DBA's. I'll also be chairing the BI panel discussion, where we'll have Chris Leone from Oracle, Graham Spicer from SolStonePlus, Mark Clewett from Edenbrook and Craig Stewart from Sunopsis, and during the rest of the time, I'll be on the SolStonePlus stand with Lisa and the rest of the team. Come along and see us to talk about all the new Oracle BI technology, see demos of OWB, XML Publisher and BI Suite EE, and enter the competitions to win (I think) an XBox 360.

Apart from all the work stuff, the best bit is all the socializing and we're running a blogger meetup at All Bar One from 7.00pm on Tuesday. It's being sponsored by the UKOUG, everyone's welcome from the Oracle blogosphere, there's a free bar and food, and as it's being run in the same place as the UKOUG volunteers event, it'll be a good chance to meet up with some familiar faces and swap some stories. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some photos, but until then, it's back to the packing...
