Off To The Hyperion Conference

It's Sunday lunchtime and I'm currently on the train going up to London, to catch a flight to the Hyperion conference in Lyon. I'm going over as an official representative of the UKOUG, and the conference will give me a good chance to see where Hyperion's products are going to fit in with the Oracle BI&W Stack. In particular, there's a couple of session being run by Oracle staff on their roadmap for Essbase, System 9 and so on, and there's a quite a few introductory sessions to various aspects of the Hyperion product range which should be useful. Anyway, here's my agenda:

Monday

  • 11:30 - 12:30 Introduction to Hyperion System 9 BI+ Analytic Services
  • 14:00 - 15:00 The Hyperion Business Intelligence Roadmap: What's New, What's Coming
  • 15:15 - 16:15 Oracle's Fusion Middleware Strategy for Application Infrastructure and How Hyperion Fits into the Picture
  • 17:00 - 18:00 Introduction to Hyperion System 9 Financial Management

Tuesday

  • 09:00 - 10:00 Hyperion System 9 BI+ Essbase Analytics and Hyperion System 9 BI+ Enterprise Analytics: what's New in Release 9.3
  • 10:15 - 11:15 A Day in the Life of a Hyperion Essbase Administrator: Tips and Tricks
  •
12:00 - 13:00 Oracle's Business Intelligence Strategy and How Hyperion Fits

14:30 - 15:30 Hyperion System 9 BI+ Interactive Reporting: Synergies with Oracle

16:00 - 17:00 Hyperion System 9: The All-In- One EPM Solution

As you can see, my main interest is in how the Hyperion products will fit in to the Oracle stack, to gain a basic introduction to Essbase and System 9, and to see how the financial management, planning and EPM products work. It'll also be interesting to see how the Oracle message is received by Hyperion's, and especially Essbase's, customers.

Finally, as I'm over representing the UKOUG, if you're a Hyperion customer in the UK and Europe who is wondering what the UK Oracle User Group can do for them, stop me if you see me and have a chat. In fact, to give you a flavour of the sorts of events we organize, the Business Intelligence & Reporting Tools SIG is running next week, and here's the line-up of speakers:

    • 10:05 Master Data Management, Andy Whitehurst, Xansa
    • 10:50 A BI Project Methodology, Stuart Wallace, Eclectic
    • 11:55 Content Intelligence, Gerry Brown, Bloor Research
    • 12:40 Fully Featured, Bargain Basement BI? A look at Oracle BI Suite SE One, Mick Bull, SolStonePlus
    • 13.40 Moving to Oracle BI EE from a Discoverer Users Perspective, Mark Rittman, Rittman Mead Consulting
    • 15:10 Oracle BI and Service Oriented Architecture, Phil Bates, Oracle Corporation

That's it for now though, I'll post more on the various sessions over the next couple of days.
