So, What is "Oracle's New Database Accelerator"?
I was just taking a look through the Open World session catalog when I came across what I presume is recently added session, "Oracle’s New Database Accelerator: Query Processing Revolutionized". It's actually running three times on the Thursday which indicates that it's actually quite a big deal, and there's a follow-up session later on entitled "Oracle's New Database Accelerator : A Technical Overview" which sort of implies that we're talking about an actual new product here rather than just a marketing exercise.
So what is it then? Any guesses? Well I've obviously not got any inside information, but I'd make a guess at something along the lines of some sort of development around the Oracle Optimized Data Warehouse initiative, perhaps linking in partitioning, Oracle OLAP (hence the "accelerator" bit), Automatic Storage Management (the "storage solutions" bit), maybe making use of some new 11gR2 feature that Chuck Rozwat or Andy Mendelsohn will announce earlier in the week. Or perhaps Oracle will buy Netezza, or maybe even Vertica? Any guesses? At least this should make the last day of Open World somewhat interesting.
