New Oracle University Masterclasses in London, Tallinn, Oslo and Zagreb

Oracle University are running a few of my "masterclasses" early next year, with the Data Warehousing one that I first ran in Denmark now running in London, and an updated version of the BI Masterclass running in Norway, Croatia and Estonia. Here's the dates and agenda for the business intelligence masterclass:

I'm particularly looking forward to each of these events, as I've got some good friends over in Norway at Bicon, a local Oracle BI & DW consultancy; the turnout at the last Zagreb event was my best ever, around sixty or so delegates; whilst Tallinn on the one hand such a historic, mediaeval city which on the other hand, is home to some of the most innovative internet and Oracle businesses out there.

Here's the agenda for the latest update to this BI masterclass, I've extended it now to cover the basics of the Oracle BI applications plus the latest on OBIEE and Essbase integration.

  • Understand the new features in Oracle BI Enterprise Edition Plus 10.1.3.3/4
  • Build enterprise performance management application using Essbase 11.1
  • Understand the integration points between OBIEE and Essbase
  • Develop data integration routines using ODI 10.1.3.4 using new data quality capabilities
  • Apply security over your Oracle BI Enterprise Edition data
  • Call Oracle BI Enterprise Edition reports and data from BPEL processes
  • Optimize the performance of Oracle BI Enteprise Edition queries
  • Understand the architecture and data structures in Oracle BI Applications
  • Develop and customize Oracle BI Applications ETL routines using Informatica PowerCenter
The event I'm running in London is the Oracle 11g Data Warehousing Masterclass, this focuses on what's new in 11g for data warehousing, a reference architecture for an 11g data warehouse taht also incorporates OBIEE, Hyperion and the Oracle BI Applications, sections on the new partitioning and compression features in 11g, a section on cube organized materialized views, plus some parts I added in to try and explain how features like bitmap indexes, extensions to the GROUP BY clause and partitioning works. Like all of my events the focus in on new features and putting all of the technology in context, if you're a data warehouse DBA or developer and you're looking for a catch-up on what's new, it'll be good to have you come along. I'm also thinking about getting someone from Oracle to come along and talk in more depth about Exadata and Oracle Database Machine, if you think that this would be of interest then let me know. Anyway, here' s the link to the event: And here's the agenda:
  • Oracle 11g Data Warehouse Design
  • ETL and Data Loading
  • Indexing - Bitmap Indexes, Bitmap Join Indexes, Indexing for Star Transformations
  • Index Tuning using the SQL Access Advisor
  • Partitioning, Compression & Parallel Execution
  • SQL for Analysis, Summarization & Oracle OLAP
  • Data Warehouse Optimization & Tuning
All of the events are being run through Oracle University, just follow the links for more details and instructions on how to book.
