Arrived in San Francisco for Oracle Open World 2009

I'm currently sitting in the Intercontinental Hotel just across the road from the Moscone Center, here courtesy of the Oracle ACE Director program and getting ready for my first presentation at 2.00pm. I arrived in San Francisco early afternoon yesterday, stayed up for a few hours and then eventually crashed out around 7pm, and consequently was up at 4am this morning with the first day's jet lag. At least I've managed to clear most of my emails prior to the week starting, and now it's time get the VM up and running for this afternoon's talk.

My first session of the week is part of the Sunday User Group Forum, and it's on behalf of the IOUG and BIWA. "A Deep Dive Into ODI Support for Oracle BI Applications 7.9.5.2 is on from 2pm - 3pm today (Sunday) in room 2002, Moscone West, and I'll be taking a deep look into how Oracle have converted the BI Applications to work with Oracle Data Integrator. If you're a BI Apps user or an ODI user you'll hopefully find this session interesting. Later on this evening is the Oracle ACE Dinner, I'm looking forward to catching up with all of the Aces and Ace Directors and to find out what I missed at the briefing last Friday.

Tomorrow (Monday) I have two sessions; at 11.30 in Moscone South 302 I'm delivering a session with Amjad Afanah (EM Product Manager) on Oracle BI Enterprise Edition Management Best Practices, and then later on at 5.30pm in Moscone West 3011 I'm delivering a session with Venkat entitled Oracle BI EE and Essbase Integration Deep Dive. Just after that, at 7pm, we're hosting a BI Meetup at Johnny Foleys in O'Farrell Street, join us if you can for a general BI networking session.

Tuesday is the Oracle Press publishers' forum, and we have some EMEA partner sessions and a receiption later in the day. On Wednesday I expect I'll be down at our stand in the main Open World Exhibition area (stand 144, come and say hello), and I'm running an Unconference session with Antonio Romero and David Allen at 2pm on Oracle Warehouse Builder 11gR2 New Features. Other than that, I'm hoping to get to a few sessions during the week, particularly the keynotes and the roadmap and strategy ones. Keep an eye on the blog, and on twitter (@markrittman) for more news as it happens.
