Sunday's Session in the BIWA Stream

I've just finished my first two sessions of the week. The first was on the new 7.9.5.2 release of the BI Apps, that uses Oracle Data Integrator as the ETL engine rather than Informatica. I was pleased with the turnout, the room looked about 2/3rds full and we had some good questions. Here's me introducing the technology and how it maps to the old 7.9.5 and 7.9.6 functionality.

After the session I had a number of people come up and ask further questions, and it seems like there's a lot of interest out there in using ODI as an alternative to Informatica (even if I'm actually trying to persuade them to use OWB, as I appear to be in this next clip.)

Directly after this session was the BIWA Panel on BI Success Factors. I was pleased to be joined by Greg Rahn and Mark Hornick (who'd cheated by bringing a presentation along, and by tweeting on this particular subject for the past few weeks therefore taking all the things I'd thought about saying), whilst Shyam acted as the chair and one of his colleagues brought along some experiences from IBM's Oracle center. Here's me talking about BI Competency Centres and how they can ensure value after the initial implementation.

Thanks to Andrew Faulkener for taking the videos with the iPhone. That's it for now, off to the Oracle ACE/ACE Directors' dinner down at the Sens Restaurant in Drumm St.
