Rittman Mead BI Forum 2011, Brighton & Atlanta May 2011 : Call for Papers

Now in it's third year, we'll shortly be announcing the Rittman Mead BI Forum 2011, which this time around will be held in Brighton, UK and Atlanta, GA, on consecutive weeks in May 2011. The dates and venues will be as follows:

The BI Forum is unlike any other Oracle BI event, in that:

  • Its focus is OBIEE, and related technologies (Essbase, OWB/ODI etc)
  • It's run by OBIEE enthusiasts, for OBIEE enthusiasts
  • It's aimed at an intermediate-to-experienced level audience who already know the basics
  • All presentations will be either technical or methodology, with no marketing "fluff"
  • Numbers attending are limited to 70 (UK) and 50 (US), with a single stream, giving us the ability to focus the event on just the one topic and with a lot of audience interaction.

Here's a link to last year's event, which we ran in the same hotel in Brighton. This year, we're taking the event to the States as well, using the same approach of using a small hotel, keeping the numbers low and aiming for a highly technical, experienced OBIEE audience.

If you're a developer working with OBIEE, or you're responsible for a project and you've come up with innovative ways to work with Oracle's BI tools, we'd like you to put forward a presentation abstract. If you've presented at other events but been dismayed at the entry-level topics, and the small amount of OBIEE-focused attendees, this will be the conference for you.

As with previous years, once the abstracts are in, we'll open up voting to anyone who's thinking of attending. We'll take these scores and use them to select the presenters across a range of topics. This year, as we're planning to run the event in both Brighton, UK and then Atlanta, GA, in consecutive weeks in May 2011, the submission form asks if you can present in the UK, the USA, or if you could actually present in both locations.

If you've got any questions, please contact me at mark.rittman@rittmanmead.com or add a commment to this post, and the submission form itself is here:

The link goes to a Google Docs form, where you can enter the abstract details.

All sessions are 60 minutes long, and previous events have favoured new and original sessions, ideally with demos, that "break new ground" in people's understanding of OBIEE and related technologies, and the methodologies and approaches you can use to implement them.

The closing date for submissions is Sunday, 13th February 2011, and we'll then hold the vote straight afterwards, announcing the successful presentations at the end of February.
